Job Summary
The Visual Merchandising Analyst will play a crucial role in driving commercial growth and optimizing range offerings across various departments at WHSmith. This position requires a strong analytical mindset, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Upskilling the Team: Develop and implement training programs to enhance the skills of the wider team in data analysis, reporting, and system development.
- Reporting and Analysis: Set up templates and reporting suites, ensuring consistency of reporting across the team, and develop current Space Planning software in collaboration with Tech teams and external suppliers.
- Space Planning and Optimization: Work across multiple categories to ensure formats and segments have the correct ranging, and collaborate with Insight, Format Dev, and Macro Space teams to build the proposition from the bottom up.
- Commercial Strategy: Lead discussions on future Space Planning systems upgrades, engage with Trading Directors to communicate findings and drive commercial strategy on space use with suppliers, and build a comprehensive understanding of WHSmith Travel ranges to identify opportunities for optimizing net profitability.
- Secondary Accountability: Provide Micro Space Planning support on a key category and assist the team with core workload during peak periods, including building relationships with suppliers, creating planograms, and managing range and store grading.
Requirements
- Relevant Experience: Ideally, you will have relevant work experience in a visual merchandising role, with a strong understanding of Space Planning Software and back-end interfacing.
- Technical Skills: Advanced Excel skills, ability to interpret detailed reports, and strong commercial skills with market interpretation.
- Soft Skills: Engaging, influencing, and negotiation skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
