Weekly Hours:

Main Responsibilities:

We are seeking a proactive and qualified Band 6 Respiratory Physiologist to join our Cardio-Respiratory department. The successful candidate will play a vital role in delivering a high standard of physiological assessments, including a comprehensive range of basic and advanced respiratory, sleep, and oesophageal services for both in-patients and out-patients.

The ideal candidate will possess significant clinical experience, holding ARTP qualifications part 1 and 2 or an equivalent, along with a minimum of two years of post-qualification experience in lung function and sleep settings. Strong communication skills are essential for effective collaboration with multidisciplinary teams, including medical and nursing staff.

Key Duties:

  • Conduct, interpret, and report on a variety of respiratory, sleep, and oesophageal investigations.
  • Maintain a compassionate and caring environment while delivering specialist services within the Cardio Respiratory Unit.
  • Undertake specialized respiratory and sleep investigations to assist in the diagnosis and treatment of referred patients.

Qualifications and Experience:

Essential:

  • Minimum of 2 years post-qualification experience, with an additional 2 years as a Specialist Respiratory Physiologist.
  • BSc (Hons) in Clinical Physiology (Respiratory Function) or equivalent experience.
  • Registered member of the Registration Council for Clinical Physiology.
  • Immediate Life Support certification.

Desirable:

  • MSc in Respiratory Physiology or equivalent experience, supported by specialist training.

  • Expertise in collaborating with medical colleagues regarding referrals and testing appropriateness.

Additional Requirements:

Essential:

  • Capability to assist patients with mobility needs.
  • Ability to manage heavy equipment in a limited space.
  • Proficiency in demonstrating forced breathing techniques to patients.
