Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Missing Person's Officer to join our team at Calderdale Council. As a key member of our Missing Young Persons Team, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality support to young people who have gone missing from home and care.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct Independent Missing Return Conversations with young people to understand the reasons behind their absences and provide a safe and supportive environment for them to express their feelings and concerns.
- Build strong relationships with young people, their families, and professional networks to identify the root causes of missing episodes and develop effective strategies for prevention and intervention.
- Work collaboratively with other agencies and services to ensure a coordinated approach to supporting young people who have gone missing.
- Develop and maintain a deep understanding of the complexities surrounding missing episodes, including the emotional and psychological factors that contribute to this behavior.
- Provide training and support to colleagues on missing episodes and the importance of a holistic and restorative approach to working with young people and their families.
Requirements:
- Level 3 or above qualification in Youth and Community Work or equivalent experience.
- Proven experience of working holistically and restoratively with emotional and often vulnerable families.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build trust and rapport with young people and their families.
- Strong organizational skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a high degree of initiative and expertise in this area.
