Job Description

**Job Title:** Nurse Specialist for Bariatric Surgery

**Job Summary:** We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Nurse Specialist to join our team at University Hospitals of North Midlands NHS Trust. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing expert care and support to patients undergoing bariatric surgery.

**Key Responsibilities:**

  • Provide specialist nursing care to patients undergoing bariatric surgery, including assessment, planning, and implementation of care plans.
  • Lead the bariatric surgery team and contribute to patient assessment and care planning at weekly Multi-Disciplinary Team (MDT) meetings.
  • Develop and implement care pathways for bariatric surgery patients, ensuring that nursing practice is evidence-based and in line with NMC Code of Professional Conduct and standards.
  • Provide education and training to pre and post-registration health professionals, as well as patients and carers.
  • Contribute to the development of specialist information booklets and leaflets, and help maintain and further develop a UHNS multi-professional bariatric surgery team.
  • Participate in nursing and multi-professional research projects and lead clinical audit within the specialty of bariatric surgery nursing.
  • Provide clinical supervision for other staff and students, and receive regular clinical supervision if desired.
  • Participate in ongoing training and development of the individual's specialist knowledge of bariatric surgery.

**Requirements:**

  • Registered Nurse with a valid NMC registration.
  • Experience in bariatric surgery nursing or a related field.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Knowledge of NMC Code of Professional Conduct and standards.
