Job Summary:
Pertemps Falkirk is seeking a skilled Welder - Fabrication Specialist to join our team. As a Welder - Fabrication Specialist, you will be responsible for carrying out repairs and fabrication works to a high level, responding quickly and efficiently to plant breakdowns.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support the site in pursuing business objectives.
- Assist with the identification, development, and implementation of operational improvements.
- Ensure continuity of production of quality parts, ensuring customer satisfaction is achieved.
- Ensure that quality, cost, and delivery are continually improved.
- Ensure that all work meets customer (internal and external) expectations on delivery and quality.
- Be flexible and adaptable within work area.
Role Requirements:
- Carry out repairs and fabrication works to a high level and respond quickly and efficiently to plant breakdowns.
- Assist with the successful introduction of new/modified parts, equipment, and tooling.
- Ensure that high standards of health, safety, and housekeeping are met.
- Set up the Sub arc welding machine, including aligning and adjusting the machine.
- Use the machine to carry out weld repairs, as specified by blueprints, layouts, welding procedures, and operating charts.
- Select the correct voltage and power of the machine.
- Visually examine welds for adherence to specifications.
- Adjust machine set up according to varying size, location, and penetration of bead.
- Weld materials such as Titanium, Stainless, Mild Steel, Inconel, High Carbon content steels.
- Preheat surfaces, using a hand torch or heating furnaces.
- Ability to record work progress on a computer.
- Burn/Lance experience.
- Ability to fabricate as required.
- Develop efficient working processes and seek ways to continuously improve all aspects of your own job.
- Work to established process methods, reporting any deviations and correcting these as necessary.
- Apply problem-solving skills relating to manufacture and continually improve processes.
- Participate in continuous improvement activities such as Lean manufacturing techniques, T.P.M, Asset Care, and 6's etc.
- Work to achieve the performance measures identified within the team.
- Assist in aiding two-way communications.
- Identify own training needs with your team leader and assist with training others if competent and designated as a trainer.
- Undertake additional training within work area in line with the company needs.
- Ensure that new starters follow the maintenance training programme and that the skill matrices are maintained and updated.
- Ensure the upkeep of team boards and the completion of administration as required.
Knowledge and Experience:
- Time served Welder with experience of MMA, Mig, and Sub Arc Welding techniques.
- Must have a proven track record of Fabricating works to a high standard.
- Interpreting work instructions, drawings, and schematic drawings.
- Computer literate.
- Able to work at heights and in enclosed spaces.
- Prior industry/production experience would be beneficial.
- Knowledge and application of safe working practices.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
