About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled researcher to join our Ocean BioGeosciences Group as a Principal/Senior Research Scientist in Meiofaunal Ecology. The successful candidate will have a strong background in meiofaunal ecology, ideally in the deep ocean, and a proven track record of leading research projects and generating new partnerships and income.

The ideal candidate will be a flexible big picture thinker who can adapt their expertise to a range of high-impact challenges and a dynamic funding landscape. They will have a growing reputation as a leader in research and a track record of internationally peer-reviewed publications, including those of high impact to the field.

The role will involve leading work as an expert scientist, developing new ideas and projects, and forming partnerships within and beyond our organization. The successful candidate will have opportunities for seagoing science onboard our research vessels or other ships to carry out sampling and experiments, as well as access to laboratory facilities for research.

At Band 4, the successful applicant will influence the direction of global marine science by developing and leading complex, multi-center, national and international research programs. They will carry out internationally recognized excellent research that is evidenced by publication of high-quality scientific papers. They will be capable of building, managing and motivating a team of scientists to achieve excellent research results.

At Band 5, the successful applicant will be established as a national international expert and will possess sufficient breadth and depth of knowledge to develop research programs and methodologies. They will have a growing reputation as a leader in research and a track record that is evidenced by publication of high-quality scientific papers. They will have experience of successfully managing projects and resources.

About You

You will need to have a high level of technical expertise in an area of meiofaunal ecology, ideally in the deep ocean. You should have a PhD and post-doctoral experience. You are a flexible big picture thinker who can adapt your expertise to a range of high-impact challenges and a dynamic funding landscape.

At Band 4, you will have experience in leading the generation of new partnerships and income for research projects at an international level. You will have an extensive record of internationally peer-reviewed publications including those of high impact to the field.
