About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Technical Optimization Specialist to join our team at Yorkshire Water. As a key member of our Bio-Resources department, you will play a critical role in ensuring compliance with Energy Saving Opportunity Scheme (ESOS) requirements and optimizing energy efficiency across our operations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Carry out detailed and rigorous site energy audits to ensure compliance with Government legislation, utilizing process and energy engineering skills.
  • Provide operational support and challenge to enable operational excellence, working closely with cross-functional teams.
  • Investigate and understand underlying problems affecting performance, ensuring readiness to meet challenging business plans.
  • Support the business in technical fields, including treatment and compliance, sludge and energy generation, energy efficiency, and ESOS compliance.
  • Develop and maintain an audit schedule to ensure compliance with ESOS requirements, managing providers of specific audits as needed.
  • Report on energy consumption for internal and external regulatory reports, identifying cost-beneficial areas of investment to reduce energy consumption.
  • Collaborate with Asset Management, Business Support Group, Engineering Reliability, and Energy & Recycling to adapt the business to transition new assets into operation.
  • Provide on-the-ground support to the business through technical advice, process improvement, training delivery, escalation, and cultural change.
  • Develop business cases to invest in enhancing performance, understanding key technical issues affecting performance and removing barriers to continual improvement.
Requirements
  • Experience in carrying out site audits, with knowledge of energy saving opportunities available to Kelda.
  • Technical knowledge of sludge and energy generation, treatment and compliance, energy efficiency, project implementation, and/or cultural change.
  • Use of KPIs and energy consumption data to track business performance against plan.
  • Understanding of the values, behaviors, and practices that support operational excellence.
  • Experience working within an asset management environment, with the ability to engage and communicate effectively with key operational and delivery partners.
  • Ability to identify poor performance, act on it, and work with colleagues to improve.
  • Ability to build quality business cases, clearly demonstrating the Yorkshire Water company values and behaviors.
