An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and motivated individual to work within the Specialist Vocational Rehabilitation Team in the Community Head Injury Service as a Band 4 Vocational Rehabilitation Assistant. This role is a fixed-term position until further notice and requires a 37.5-hour workweek.
Main Duties of the JobThe role is based at the Community Head Injury Service, Brookside Clinic, delivering specialized vocational rehabilitation programs as agreed between the client and the Occupational Therapists or Placement Consultant. You will be working closely within an interdisciplinary team in the Community Head Injury Service to deliver client-centered assessments and interventions. The role will include assisting clients to prepare for work through rehabilitation, coaching, and liaising with employers, occupational health, human resources, and job centre staff.
The post holder must be able to use high-level communication skills to establish therapeutic relationships with people who have a complex range of difficulties. There will also be various administration tasks involved on a day-to-day basis and computer proficiency is needed as documentation is electronic.

Person Specification- RQF Level 3 health or care-related qualification
- Level 2 functional skills
- Care Certificate
- Once employed, the Healthcare Assistant Practitioner apprenticeship, as well as statutory and mandatory in-house training
- Good level of education to GCSE standard
- Grade C GCSE or equivalent in English
- NVQ level 3 in Health Care or equivalent level 3 qualification in relevant topic
- Current driving license with access to a car for work
- DBR – Enhanced level of disclosure
- Vocational training
- Previous experience of working in a healthcare setting and/or working with people with a brain injury, neurological diagnosis, special needs, or learning disability
- Experience of a role in Healthcare at Band 3 level allied health professional or equivalent
- Experience of managing a caseload, to support clients to develop skills to overcome barriers due to their disabilities
- Competency in basic IT skills
- Clear, concise verbal and written communication required for effective liaison with inter-disciplinary team, clients, families & others.
- Able to maintain accurate, concise clinical records
- Good organisational skills with attention to detail e.g. self-autonomy, client related, caseload
- Must have a good understanding of how to work effectively as part of a team
- Able to know own limitations and seek advice
- Self-motivated and able to use own initiative
- Able to work creatively to help clients overcome barriers to vocational rehabilitation
- Motivated, compassionate and empathetic to vulnerable clients and people
- Flexible and adaptable to change
- To have ability to form good working relationships with staff, clients & others
- Ability to work independently within a range of environments
