The Role:
We are seeking a highly skilled Lifeboat Inspection and Testing Services Trainer to join our team in Aberdeen. As a key member of our training team, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality training to our service technicians, ensuring they have the necessary skills and knowledge to perform their duties safely and effectively.
Key Responsibilities:
- Contribute to the development of service technician annual training plans, delivering a wide range of training content to plan, working with subject matter experts in other disciplines to build the personal confidence to deliver and to answer a range of trainee questions.
- Understand and apply all steps in the training cycle, advising service managers and technicians on how to get the most from personal development opportunities, effectively support training needs analysis and prioritisation of needs, delivers and assesses competence to standard, critically analyses training feedback, seeking ways to improve.
- Gather information from the business to support continuous improvement of Survitec service technician training.
- Deliver training effectively, breaking down training topics into manageable building blocks, managing their pace and complexity of topic with the skills base and language needs of their audience.
- Drive and support appropriate competence assessment activity, supports service operations managers to meet their requirement to assess competence according to schedule and standard, provides coaching and support to develop technicians' understanding and application of the materials covered.
- Work with training coordinator to maintain training records, issue and record certificates.
- Carry out training records audits, ensuring information held is up to date and accurate, flagging any requirements for refresher.
- When schedule allows, carry out service technician duties according to process and standard, demonstrating on-going and up to date operational skills, takes part in personal skills reviews and formal assessments to maintain own competence record.
- Support technician community of practice, providing subject matter expertise and supporting technicians to share best practice, ensures best practice ideas are managed using accepted and proven continuous improvement methods.
- Utilise practical work experience to review and update key processes, standards and training content HKF success profile.
- Identify instances of non-conformance or non-compliance, reports and escalates appropriately and works with local teams to problem solve and continuously improve within own areas of expertise.
- Assists with service operations incident investigation and implements actions from incident and incident management learning.

- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Exceptional ability to retain and recall vast amounts of information.
- Must exhibit strong mechanical aptitude. This includes the ability to understand, operate, and troubleshoot mechanical systems and equipment.
- Ability to work effectively in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
- Proactive approach to learning and skill development.
- Demonstrates the ability to work autonomously and efficiently without constant supervision, capable of taking initiative and managing tasks independently, while also recognising when to seek guidance or clarification.
- Resourcefulness in problem-solving and decision-making, effectively navigating challenges, and obstacles with minimal guidance.
- Adapts quickly to changing circumstances and priorities, demonstrating flexibility and resilience in response to new challenges or unexpected developments.
- Possesses strong organisational and time management skills, effectively prioritising tasks and allocating resources to meet deadlines and objectives independently.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality assurance.
- Proactive approach to learning and skill development.
Desirable Criteria:
- Subject matter experience to a fully competent level.
- Previous experience working as a Trainer.
- Previous Marine industry experience.
- Must have substantial experience in hydraulics. This includes a deep understanding of hydraulic systems, components, and their applications.
