Job Summary:We are looking for a highly skilled Mechanical Fitter to work on the overhaul and testing of our range of products, including Hydraulic Pumps, Motors, Valves, Hydraulic Power units, and High Pressure Hydraulic tooling. The successful candidate will work in teams to break down mechanical systems on locomotive rafts and rebuild them.
Key Responsibilities:- Engine strip-down and rebuild, including component repair and replacement
- Fitting newly refurbished engines back onto rafts, including all necessary components
- Installation and repair of hydraulic systems
- Understanding of vehicle mechanical interfaces and repairs of vehicle components
- Overhaul of raft components
- Understanding of schematic drawings
- Training and development as required
- Mentoring trainees and apprentices when applicable
- Ensuring waste is disposed of correctly
- Strong mechanical background
- Experience in HGV, large engine, or rolling stock assembly
- Understanding of engines, hydraulics, and pneumatics in plant or heavy goods
- Good attitude and willingness to work flexibly
- Relevant engineering qualifications (not essential for experienced candidates)
