We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Staff Nurse to join our team at Devon Partnership NHS Trust. As a Staff Nurse, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality patient care and contributing to the delivery of our mental health services.
Key Responsibilities- Assess patient care needs and develop, implement, and evaluate individual care plans.
- Provide named nurse role to patients and promote and improve the quality of service provided.
- Manage the unit in the absence of the Ward Manager/Team Leader and participate in the internal rotation system, including weekend working.
- Be a proactive, skilled member of the ward Multi-Disciplinary team and have knowledge and experience of providing individual and group clinical/therapy work.
- Demonstrate effective leadership and assist with providing advice and guidance to non-qualified staff and students.
- Be responsible for the provision and maintenance of effective therapeutic relationships, which at all times acknowledges the rights, personal dignity, and encourages opportunity for growth and development of the person using this service.
- Provide cross-cover to other mental health units located on the same site when there is a clinical need and work in line with agreed safeguarding protocols at all times.
- Actively engage in required training and demonstrate a working knowledge of the legal requirements of the Mental Health Act 1983 (including 2007 updates), Mental Capacity Act 2005 (to include Deprivation of Liberty safeguards), Care Programme Approach, and National Health Service and Community Care Act 1990.
- Work to the NICE and NMC Guidelines and Standards and be aware of and work in line with all relevant Trust Policies and Procedures.
- RMN/Registered Nurse (Mental Health) with current registration and a willingness to complete Trust Mandatory Courses.
- Experience of Adult and/or Older Persons mental health nursing and the nursing process.
- Knowledge of ordering, storing, and administering required medications, knowledge of possible side effects of medication, knowledge of the Mental Health Act 1987 (including updates), knowledge of the Mental Capacity Act & Deprivation of Liberty safeguards.
- Ability to form positive therapeutic relationships with service users, carers, and other professional bodies, ability to assess situations, make decisions, co-ordinate and organise appropriate responses, able to risk assess, and be able to plan and implement all aspects of nursing skills.
