Job Summary:

The successful candidate will work in an established enforcement team who implement and enforce predominantly the Housing Act 2004. The ideal candidate will demonstrate current and detailed knowledge of the Housing Act 2004 and other relevant legislation.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct thorough investigations utilizing digital resources to identify and address housing disrepair and health and safety-related matters in the private rented sector.
  • Work closely with landlords to ensure properties are brought into a good state of repair, are decent and safe for the occupants to live in, protecting public health and improving quality of life.
  • Prioritize workloads and be flexible in your work approach to meet the needs of the team and the community.
  • Collaborate with Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service and undertake proactive initiatives to tackle inadequate and dangerous housing across Manchester.

Requirements:

  • Relevant experience in a regulatory, enforcement, or related discipline that can contribute to the team's work is essential.
  • A strong understanding of building construction and a broad knowledge of the challenges faced by private sector tenants and landlords is required.
  • The successful candidate will be a designated Casual Car User, meaning car journeys may be necessary occasionally but are not essential to the role.
