About the Role:
Kent is seeking a Principal Civil Structural Engineer to lead and coordinate engineering deliverables while providing progress updates in alignment with project objectives.
The Principal Civil Structural Engineer will report to the Civil Structural Group Manager or Project Manager, depending on the project's complexity.
Key Responsibilities:
- Align with Kent's core values, which inspire our success and guide our actions, ensuring a focus on safety, ethics, innovation, responsiveness, quality, and cost-effectiveness.
- Serve as a lead civil/structural engineer or hands-on specialist on various project phases, including feasibility, concept, FEED, detailed design, or EPC.
- Assume technical responsibility for all civil/structural engineering tasks within a project, directing the preparation of deliverables and delegating supervision as necessary.
- Formulate solutions to complex technical issues independently and communicate effectively with project engineers and management.
- Conduct specialized reviews of civil/structural engineering aspects based on expertise in onshore and offshore projects.
- Oversee civil/structural activities, ensuring compliance with design manuals and procedures.
- Identify and address discrepancies in project proposals and manage changes effectively.
- Provide construction and fabrication support as needed.
- Participate in multi-discipline engineering design reviews, contributing civil/structural insights.
- Review proposal documents, preparing scopes of work and technical evaluations.
- Plan and schedule civil/structural activities, coordinating resource requirements with management.
- Deliver regular project updates and reports to management.
- Support procurement processes, including technical requisitions and vendor evaluations.
- Ensure compliance with client specifications and recommend improvements where applicable.
- Collaborate with quality assurance to address compliance issues and coordinate audits.
- Assist in employee performance development and training initiatives.
- Support the recruitment process as needed.
In addition to the responsibilities outlined, the employee may be assigned other tasks as required by management, within the scope of their skills and capabilities. This flexibility is essential to meet the dynamic needs of the organization efficiently.
Your Qualifications:
- Master's Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering.
- Chartered Engineer status with ICE, IStructE, or IMarEST.
- Relevant experience in the Onshore/Offshore Oil and Gas Industry and Low Carbon Energy Transition.
Technical Skills:
- Strong technical knowledge and hands-on capability in Onshore Civil and Structural Engineering.
- Expertise in Offshore Structural Engineering, including platforms and wind farms, with knowledge of fatigue design and wave loading.
- Proficiency in structural engineering software such as Staad-Pro, SACS, SESAM, USFOS, and ABAQUS.
- Ability to prepare and review project documentation, including design reports and specifications.
- Strong coordination and supervisory skills.
- Collaborative approach to resolving technical challenges.
- Awareness of cost management and budgeting.
- Proactive mindset with a focus on project delivery.
- Attention to detail and technical orientation.
- Team-oriented attitude.
Communication Skills:
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills are essential.
Core Competencies:
- Extensive knowledge of civil and structural engineering for onshore and offshore projects.
- Experience in consultancy, Pre-FEED, FEED, and EPC projects.
- Familiarity with international specifications, standards, and codes relevant to this role.
- Understanding of safety and quality procedures.
- Specialized knowledge in specific civil and structural engineering areas.
- Experience in global work share management.
