About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Chief Architect to join our team at Nationwide Building Society.

As a key member of our Architecture and Engineering team, you will be responsible for defining and delivering the architecture that supports our portfolio of work across all three value streams.

You will provide thought leadership and architectural direction to our teams, ensuring that our solutions are of the highest quality and meet the needs of our customers and members.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the definition and assurance of end-to-end solution architectures for complex change
  • Provide architectural direction and thought leadership to our Architecture and Engineering teams
  • Develop and maintain technical strategy, implementation roadmaps, standards, patterns, and guardrails
  • Manage technology metadata records and ensure they remain accurate and up-to-date
  • Lead and develop teams of engineers and architects to enable them to deliver their architecture outcomes
  • Develop and build strategic relationships with external parties to ensure the definition and delivery of architecture is future-proofed
  • Influence and stakeholder manage up to ExCo level to ensure the architecture informs the strategic investment plan
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A solid engineering or architecture background, with degree-level qualifications relevant to at least three of the following - Finance, Risk (Financial and Non-Financial), HR, and Procurement
  • A practical understanding of the architecture and engineering requirements of a particular domain, and a proven ability to develop new architecture and engineering patterns to solve novel technology problems
  • Data, Process, and Quality focussed
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
