English Teacher Job Description

We are seeking an experienced and resilient English Teacher to join our team at a Multi Academy Trust in Rochdale. This long-term position offers a fantastic opportunity to work in a dynamic and diverse environment.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Plan, deliver, and assess engaging English lessons to students across Key Stages 3 and 4, following the national curriculum.
  • Use creative and differentiated teaching strategies to ensure all students, regardless of ability, can access and enjoy English.
  • Effectively manage classroom behaviour, creating a positive, respectful, and productive learning environment.
  • Monitor student progress, providing timely and constructive feedback to support academic development.
  • Work closely with colleagues in the English department and across the trust to contribute to the shared vision for student success.
  • Inspire a love for reading and writing, encouraging students to develop their literacy skills and critical thinking.
  • Provide pastoral support when necessary, understanding the diverse needs of students and working with them to overcome barriers to learning.
Requirements:
  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) with a specialism in English or a related subject.
  • Proven experience in teaching English at secondary level, ideally across both KS3 and KS4.
  • Strong behaviour management skills and the ability to maintain a calm and productive classroom environment.
  • A resilient and adaptable attitude to meet the demands of a busy and diverse school environment.
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills, with a passion for engaging and motivating students.
  • A commitment to inclusivity and student well-being, ensuring all learners are supported and encouraged to succeed.
