Role Summary

Everest People Solutions is seeking a skilled Senior Electrical Systems Engineer to join our team at a prominent facility specializing in the processing of animal by-products. The primary responsibility of this role is to enhance production efficiency by delivering both planned and responsive engineering solutions aimed at reducing operational downtime. The engineer will also oversee essential tasks, support installation efforts, uphold health and safety regulations, monitor equipment performance, rectify faults, and assist with various operational duties as required.

Key Responsibilities for the Senior Electrical Systems Engineer

  • Engage with production supervisors and management to pinpoint potential challenges and reduce downtime.
  • Contribute to the exploration of strategies to boost plant efficiency.
  • Collaborate with the Engineering Administrator to maintain adequate inventory levels of spare components.
  • Implement preventative maintenance protocols.
  • Coordinate with production leadership to plan necessary interventions, secure approvals, and ensure all required permits are obtained prior to commencement.
  • Provide guidance and support to external contractors during installation activities as necessary.
  • Ensure a safe working environment by adhering to site safety protocols and maintaining cleanliness and orderliness in work areas post-task completion.
  • Supervise all machinery and auxiliary systems during production, ensuring proper documentation is completed.
  • Address any identified defects, following established procedures to resolution.
  • Participate in mandatory meetings and training sessions as directed by management.

Qualifications for the Senior Electrical Systems Engineer

  • Demonstrated experience in an Electrical Engineering capacity within a processing, manufacturing, or heavy industry setting.
  • Strong collaborative skills with the ability to lead and inspire a team through a proactive, hands-on approach, promoting teamwork and high performance.
  • Adept at making informed decisions under pressure and effectively communicating these decisions to relevant team members to ensure seamless operations.
  • Certification in Six Sigma and Lean Manufacturing principles, emphasizing continuous improvement.
  • Advanced qualifications in IOSH or NEBOSH related to health and safety standards.
  • Expertise in problem-solving methodologies, including 8D techniques.
  • Proficient in developing and analyzing Value Stream Maps (VSM).
  • Experience with Risk Assessment and Method Statements (RAMs).
  • Familiarity with Control of Substances Hazardous to Health (COSHH) regulations.
  • Knowledge of Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures.
  • Skilled in fault diagnosis techniques such as half split, input/output, and the 6 Point Technique.
  • NVQ Level 3 qualification in an Electrical discipline.
  • Experience with calibration processes and protocols.
  • Detail-oriented with a strong ability to identify potential issues and escalate them appropriately to avert disruptions.
  • Excellent communication skills, enabling clear conveyance of technical information and instructions to team members and stakeholders.
  • Proficient in English, both written and spoken, ensuring effective communication.
