Job Title: Exterior Housekeeper/Waste Operative

Your main objective will be to maintain the cleanliness of exterior areas, including service roads, car parks, and back-of-house spaces. This will involve operating static compactors and bailers, as well as using reach and wash and jet washes to ensure segregated waste receptacles are available for retailers.

In addition to these tasks, you will be responsible for general cleaning activities, including mopping, sweeping, litter control, polishing, and dusting. You will also be required to use standard manual tools, such as mops, ketches, cloths, dusters, chemicals, and brushes, as well as suction cleaning machines, pedestrian and ride-on scrubber dryers.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Ensure areas are cleaned to the highest standards at all times
  • Maintain Health and Safety standards at all times
  • Use chemical competence and COSHH guidelines
  • Ensure equipment is cleaned, maintained, and stored correctly
  • Deal with customer requests promptly and deliver world-class customer service
  • Assist in sustaining a winning destination shopping centre in the heart of Sunderland
Requirements:
  • Good attention to detail
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Friendly and approachable with excellent interpersonal skills
  • Education to at least National Level 1 (e.g. GCSEs grades D-G)
  • Ability to work independently, proactively, and use initiative, while being part of a large team
  • Reliability and responsibility with a flexible approach to work
  • Cleaning experience is preferred, but full training will be provided if necessary
Working Conditions and Salary:
  • Please note that you will be working as an External Housekeeper covering 8-hour shifts between 0500 on a rolling rota pattern and a full-time contract of 30 hours per week
  • Rate of pay is £11.49 per hour
