Commissioning Manager Job Description

We are currently seeking a highly skilled Commissioning Manager to join our team on a permanent basis, working on major projects.

Job Summary:

The Commissioning Manager will be responsible for managing the commissioning process on small to medium-sized projects or areas within complex multi-discipline projects.

  • Develop and implement commissioning strategies to ensure safe, timely, and cost-effective project delivery.
  • Manage delivery teams and supply chain organizations to drive project success.
  • Lead the development and execution of commissioning test plans to confirm design intent against functional acceptance criteria.
  • Ensure commissioning, operability, and maintainability requirements are embedded into project design.
  • Provide leadership, management, and support to ensure commissioning work is executed to meet Amentum's, legal, regulatory, project, and client requirements.
  • Utilize project tools to inform effective decision-making, pre-empt risk, and implement mitigation strategies.
  • Develop and maintain the competence of Amentum and supply chain commissioning teams.
Responsibilities:
  • Develop and deliver commissioning work scopes to approved strategies and execution plans.
  • Identify and manage risks, escalating as necessary.
  • Apply a proactive and balanced approach to safety, ensuring it is not compromised during commissioning.
  • Accurately report commissioning progress and performance, taking corrective actions as required.
  • Plan, prioritize, and deploy commissioning resources to support successful project delivery.
  • Provide demonstrable evidence that pre-commissioning activities add value to project delivery.
  • Research, evaluate, and deploy innovative techniques to support successful delivery.
  • Manage day-to-day liaison with personnel to obtain necessary permissions and minimize project impact.
  • Ensure input into other project processes is carried out at the appropriate time.
Accountable:
  • For the accurate inclusion of commissioning work scope within the project schedule.
  • Leading and coaching teams to maximize efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Ensuring commissioning work is controlled in line with Amentum's processes and procedures.
  • Ensuring testing and commissioning demonstrates new or modified systems meet safety and design performance requirements.
  • Assessing, authorizing, and maintaining the competence of Amentum and supply chain commissioning teams.
  • Accurately recording and disseminating 'Learning from Experience'.
Requirements:
  • High-level qualification in a relevant subject.
  • Experience in a commissioning or engineering managerial position in a highly regulated environment (Nuclear, Energy, Petrochem sectors).
  • Experience in managing multi-discipline delivery teams, including supply chain organizations.
