Pertemps is seeking a skilled Lead Practitioner to oversee the Pause Initiative within Children's Services.

Role Overview

The primary responsibility of the Lead Practitioner is to provide direction and management to the Pause Initiative, ensuring the effective execution and delivery of a comprehensive package of health, therapeutic, and social support.

The Lead Practitioner will focus on addressing the intricate needs of women, aiming to decrease the instances of children being placed into care.

The mission of the Pause Initiative is to disrupt the cycle of vulnerable women experiencing multiple child removals, offering them the support necessary to become capable parents, thereby enabling their children to remain in their custody.


Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide effective leadership and mentorship to the Pause team, driving positive outcomes for women by establishing a clear vision, objectives, and priorities.
  • Collaborate with the National Practice Lead to maintain fidelity to the Pause model, including assertive outreach and ensuring access to effective long-acting reversible contraception.
  • Establish and sustain strong partnerships with essential agencies such as sexual health, housing, and mental health services, facilitating support for women in planning future pregnancies.
  • Utilize evidence-based practices through thorough assessments of women's needs, case formulation, and intervention delivery.
  • Monitor and evaluate outcomes using the Pause Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning Framework, ensuring real-time data informs practice improvements and is reported to relevant stakeholders.
  • Prepare reports for the Local Pause Board and other stakeholders to review and assess the effectiveness of the Pause Initiative in meeting its objectives.
  • Manage the financial resources of the Pause Initiative, ensuring expenditures align with the established goals for women.

Requirements:
  • Proven experience in leading a practice team effectively on a daily basis.
  • Demonstrated ability to provide case management and supervision to a team working with clients facing complex challenges.
  • Experience working with families or individuals with diverse and complex needs, including mental health issues, substance misuse, and domestic violence, with a focus on building rapport and effective relationships.
  • Strong knowledge of evidence-based methodologies, including systemic practice, social learning theory, and strength-based interventions.
  • Understanding of adult safeguarding, childcare legislation, and local Child Protection Procedures, alongside knowledge of child development and parenting capacity.
  • Relevant professional qualifications or experience in fields such as nursing, social work, mental health, education, or therapeutic practices.
