We are seeking a knowledgeable Environmental Project Coordinator to enhance our initiatives aimed at sequestering atmospheric carbon while delivering significant ecological benefits through both engineered and nature-based solutions.
Role Summary
The Environmental Project Coordinator will play a crucial role in managing the daily operations of carbon removal projects, focusing on both nature-based solutions and engineered approaches. Project types include afforestation efforts guided by the Woodland Carbon Code and biodiversity enhancement through the Wilder Carbon Standard.
To ensure effective project execution, candidates should possess a solid background in environmental science, project management, and stakeholder collaboration. Familiarity with compliance protocols, environmental regulations, and the voluntary carbon market is advantageous.
Key Responsibilities
- Project Planning and Management : Assist in developing comprehensive project plans, including timelines, budgets, resource allocation, and risk management strategies. Oversee project activities from initiation to completion, ensuring timely and budget-compliant deliverables.
- Technical Implementation : Collaborate with academic and technical partners to execute carbon removal projects. Maintain a thorough understanding of environmental protocols to uphold high-quality standards across all initiatives. Manage essential project documentation and reporting.
- Stakeholder Collaboration : Foster support for projects by engaging with various stakeholders, including university partners and landowners. Organize and participate in external meetings, workshops, and public consultations, while effectively representing the Carbon Bank within the Green Britain Group.
- Monitoring and Evaluation : Implement monitoring frameworks to assess project performance and impact. Maintain the Carbon Bank data center for transparent publication of scientific methods and results. Prepare progress reports for senior management and stakeholders.
- Regulatory Compliance : Ensure adherence to relevant environmental regulations and standards for all projects. Build relationships with regulatory partners to facilitate smooth project delivery.
- Research and Development : Stay informed about advancements in carbon removal technologies and practices. Assist in identifying and applying for funding opportunities to support carbon removal initiatives.
Additional Information
- Hybrid working arrangement with part office-based and part remote work.
- Frequent field visits to project sites are required.
- Some travel may be necessary for stakeholder meetings and assessments.
- Flexible working hours may be needed to meet project deadlines.
Candidate Profile
- Experience : Proven track record in managing environmental projects with diverse stakeholders, ideally with at least 3 years in a reputable organization focused on carbon removal or climate change mitigation.
- Skills : Strong organizational and project management skills, with the ability to handle multiple projects. Excellent communication skills to build lasting relationships. Proficiency in project management tools and MS Excel. Knowledge of environmental regulations is preferred.
- Personal Attributes : Passionate about sustainability and climate change mitigation. Ability to work collaboratively and independently. Detail-oriented and highly organized.
