The Role

We are seeking a highly organized and communicative patent paralegal trainee to join our growing Life Sciences and Chemistry teams. As a patent paralegal, you will provide administrative support to our attorney team, enabling them to deliver exceptional client service.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support a small attorney team in Life Sciences and Chemistry, processing patent office and client communications, including reporting and acknowledging receipt of emails.
  • Organize attorneys' calendars and arrange meetings, utilizing excellent organizational and communication skills.
  • Process patent office communications, including UK IPO and EPO notifications for UK, European, and PCT applications.
  • Prepare template emails and responses for attorneys to work on, ensuring timely completion and client satisfaction.
  • Upload applications and patent office responses for checking and filing, and report filing to clients.
  • Assist with finance-related tasks, including ensuring accurate official fees and costs, and preparing cost estimates and responding to billing inquiries.

Requirements

  • Excellent communication and organizational skills, with good spoken and written English.
  • Ability to understand and follow patent processes, including patent office communications and official forms.
  • Initiative in daily work, identifying urgent matters and proactively handling or raising them with attorneys as necessary.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to work accurately in a fast-paced environment.
