About the Role:

We are seeking a highly qualified and experienced Civil Engineering Lecturer to join our team in Hertfordshire. This full-time, permanent position offers an exciting opportunity to deliver high-quality teaching, coordinate courses, and assess student work.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Deliver engaging and effective lectures in Civil Engineering, utilizing current practices and methodologies.
  • Coordinate and manage course content and delivery, ensuring a high standard of education.
  • Assess and provide constructive feedback on student work, promoting academic excellence.
  • Support students in all aspects of their learning journey, fostering a positive and inclusive learning environment.
  • Develop and update course materials and documentation, staying up-to-date with industry developments.
  • Maintain accurate student records and assessment data, ensuring compliance with academic regulations.
  • Participate in departmental meetings and contribute to curriculum development, shaping the future of Civil Engineering education.
Essential Skills and Experience:
  • A degree in Civil Engineering or a related field, with a strong foundation in current practices and methodologies.
  • A teaching qualification (e.g., PGCE, QTS, or equivalent), demonstrating expertise in education and training.
  • Proven experience in teaching Civil Engineering at the FE or HE level, with a track record of delivering high-quality education.
  • Strong knowledge of current civil engineering practices and methodologies, with the ability to inspire and motivate students.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with students, staff, and industry partners.
  • IT literate, with experience using virtual learning environments and other educational technologies.
Desirable Skills and Experience:
  • Experience in curriculum development and course coordination, with a focus on innovation and excellence.
  • Industry experience in civil engineering, with a strong understanding of current practices and challenges.
  • Membership in a relevant professional body (e.g., ICE, IStructE), demonstrating a commitment to professional development and excellence.
