Financial Assistant Accountant

Service Care Legal is currently seeking a dedicated Financial Assistant Accountant to support a local authority's financial operations.
Location:
Remote work available.
Hours:
35 hours per week.
Compensation:
£17-£20 per hour (via Umbrella/Ltd).
Contract Duration:
Initial 3 months with the possibility of extension.
Role Overview:
Assist the Ledgers, Rents & Banking division in delivering efficient financial services to the organization.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Oversee and uphold processes related to ledgers, rent account entries, and billing.
2. Execute weekly data transfers, document rent income entries, and manage refunds.
3. Reconcile suspense accounts and cash in transit.
4. Manage bank accounts, conduct reconciliations, and record transactions.
5. Process system entries including invoicing, payments, and journal entries.
6. Administer the OCR system, oversee requester/approver roles, and manage data entries.
7. Redirect invoices that do not have purchase orders.
8. Analyze and submit data for VAT/CIS returns.
9. Assist with period and year-end closing activities.
10. Contribute to the enhancement of systems and operational processes.
11. Support the preparation of statutory financial accounts and liaise with auditors.
12. Process reports for unapproved invoices and ensure data accuracy.
13. Conduct credit control activities.
14. Address inquiries and foster positive customer relationships.
15. Provide assistance and cover for team members as required.
Required Knowledge:
Understanding of financial controls and systems.
Minimum GCSE Maths level 4 (C or above) or equivalent experience.
Skills and Experience:
Proven experience in financial roles managing income and expenditures.
Strong proficiency in financial regulations, computerized systems, and Microsoft Excel.
Ability to maintain accuracy under pressure and resolve issues effectively.
Personal Attributes:
Awareness of diverse needs.
Self-driven with the ability to work independently.
