Position Overview:

  • Join our newly established Group Procurement team at the onset of its transformative journey, playing a pivotal role in achieving cost efficiencies, maximizing value, and ensuring high-quality service across the organization. As the Director of Category Management, you will serve as the deputy to the Group Procurement Director, spearheading initiatives in sustainability, technology, policy, processes, and governance throughout the organization. This role will involve leading the IT and marketing categories to enhance cost efficiency, quality, supply chain management, and sustainability through strategic sourcing efforts, including supplier relationship management, vendor consolidation, and purchase compliance.
  • Contribute to the development of the Supplier Relationship Management (SRM) framework and playbook, and be instrumental in establishing the Landsec SRM Centre of Excellence.

Team Dynamics:

As a vital member of the team, you will support the Group Procurement Director in achieving the strategic goals of the business. Your responsibilities will include cultivating strong relationships with stakeholders, professionalizing your category of expenditure, and enhancing our interactions with the supply chain.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Act as the primary liaison within the Group Procurement Team for the IT and marketing expenditure categories.
  • Lead sustainability initiatives for the procurement team, serving as the main contact with the sustainability department.
  • Optimize the value of the Supply Chain Sustainability program and lead efforts in Supply Chain Diversity.
  • Provide trusted advisory support to the business regarding this category of expenditure.
  • Facilitate strategic change initiatives across the organization.
  • Enhance the skills of the Procurement team and the broader business in Category Management.
  • Contribute to the development, implementation, advocacy, and integration of the procurement strategy for the Group.
  • Drive continuous improvement, ensuring best value and quality partnerships with suppliers, while contributing to spending targets and key performance indicators.
  • Formulate and maintain a long-term strategy for IT and marketing categories.
  • Establish and sustain a network of market and supplier contacts for strategic procurement activities.
  • Assist the Group Procurement Director in crafting the SRM framework and playbook to create the Landsec SRM Centre of Excellence.
  • Oversee a small team of category managers and commercial analysts.
  • Collaborate effectively with enabling functions and other business areas across the organization.

Qualifications and Skills:

Essential Requirements:

  • Extensive experience in procurement, including a minimum of three years in team leadership roles.
  • Proficient in operating in fast-paced environments with significant procurement exposure.
  • Demonstrated negotiation skills, capable of leveraging these both externally and internally to create innovative solutions that drive value while fostering quality partnerships.
  • Adaptable and comfortable navigating ambiguity.
  • Exceptional communication abilities.
  • Strong relationship-building skills with key suppliers and stakeholders.
  • MCIPS certification.
  • Proven track record in managing IT and marketing procurement activities, including sourcing, supplier management, and developing value-driven category strategies.
