Senior Accountant Job Description

This Senior Accountant role is an exciting opportunity to join a leading independent accountancy firm that supports an extensive client portfolio, always striving to deliver excellence.

The ideal candidate will be a qualified accountant with a strong knowledge of accounting services, a can-do attitude to problem-solving, and the ability to manage a team's workflow.

Responsibilities will include preparation and submission of statutory and financial statements, preparation and submission of personal and corporate tax returns and assessments, and assisting with VAT returns.

The successful candidate will also be responsible for managing workflow, ensuring client work is completed and delivered to a high standard and in a timely manner, and liaising with HMRC on client matters.

Additionally, the Senior Accountant will be expected to confidently liaise with clients, attending meetings and helping with queries, and support with general accountancy services and business advice.

This is a fantastic opportunity for a motivated and experienced accountant to join a forward-thinking team and take on a key role in the firm.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Preparation and submission of statutory and financial statements
  • Preparation and submission of personal and corporate tax returns and assessments
  • Assisting with VAT returns
  • Managing workflow and ensuring client work is completed and delivered to a high standard and in a timely manner
  • Liaising with HMRC on client matters
  • Confidently liaising with clients, attending meetings and helping with queries
  • Support with general accountancy services and business advice

Requirements:

  • ACCA, ACA or CA qualified, working towards it or qualified by experience
  • Strong knowledge across accountancy services
  • A can-do attitude to problem-solving
  • Self-motivated and able to manage a team's workflow
  • Able to bring out the best in others and review work
  • Excellent communication and advisory skills
