Senior Estimator

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Estimator to join our team at Tarmac Trading Limited. As a Senior Estimator, you will play a crucial role in helping our Commercial Team achieve forecasted budgets through pricing work and managing the tendering process.
Main Responsibilities- Negotiate and win work contracts with local authorities and major schemes.
- Develop and maintain effective relationships with new and existing customers, working collaboratively as part of a team.
- Manage the production and submission of all pricing work for the contracting business, ensuring compliance with internal review procedures.
- Secure and develop new business opportunities, ensuring quality, competitive tenders are submitted, and key targeted contracts are won, taking into account business capacity, margins, financial and contractual risks.
- Undertake pre-contract commercial reviews to identify opportunities and risks within proposed future contracts.
- Analyze subcontractor/supplier quotations for inclusion with tenders and produce tender handover reports for the operations delivery team.
- Develop and influence bid strategies, researching market trends and data for bid-winning.
- Ensure compliance with policies and procedures, including Health and Safety, Environmental, and Sustainability.
- Coach and develop Apprentices within the team.
- Commercial estimating background gained within highways surfacing or civil engineering.
- Operational technical knowledge ideally gained within the highways sector.
- Experience of pricing different tenders, including local authority and major schemes.
- Ability to develop relationships with internal and external stakeholders of varying seniority levels, working together to secure work and enhance profitability.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Ability to influence others and work collaboratively as part of a team.
- Strong commercial acumen and capability to work to tight deadlines.
- Good attention to detail.
- Strong drive to succeed, improve, and innovate.
- Proven sales skills and the ability to successfully negotiate.
- Working knowledge of NEC 3 and 4 forms of contract.
- Experience of Causeway 3 Estimating software (desirable).
