Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled and experienced Veterinary Surgeon to join our team as a Night Veterinary Surgeon on a locum or fixed-term contract basis. As a key member of our emergency and critical care team, you will be responsible for providing high-quality patient care and advice to clients during overnight shifts.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide expert veterinary care and advice to clients during overnight shifts, working closely with our nursing team to ensure the best possible outcomes for patients.
- Consult with clients and provide guidance on patient care and treatment plans.
- Record all client contact and ensure accurate and timely communication with owners and referring practices.
- Care for inpatients throughout the night, adjusting treatments and carrying out diagnostics and procedures as necessary.
- Confirm plans for the following day by writing patient kennel sheets and adjusting medications accordingly.
- Contact inpatient owners overnight as necessary and contact all inpatient owners in the morning to update them on their animals' progress and plan.
- Provide handover to the morning inpatient vet.
- Collaborate with our on-call vet for second opinions or extra help as needed.
Requirements
We are looking for a candidate who is confident in working sole charge and has experience in emergency and critical care. While night work experience is desirable, it is not essential. You will thrive in a friendly, challenging, and fun work environment providing gold standard care for both patients and clients.
