Job Summary

The Director of Science and Academic Affairs will be responsible for leading the Science Faculty at St Anthony's School for Boys, ensuring that the curriculum is aligned with the school's academic vision and that students receive a high-quality education in science.

Key Responsibilities

  • Curriculum Development
    • Develop and implement schemes of work and curriculum plans for Reception to Year 8 that meet the needs of all students, including those with additional needs and the most able.
  • Assessment and Progress Tracking
    • Ensure that all assessments are fit for purpose and successfully executed in line with the school's reporting and assessment policy.
    • Track student progress in the Science Faculty, in line with the whole school reporting and assessment policy.
  • Staff Development
    • Ensure that staff responsible for delivering the science curriculum are confident in delivering high-quality lessons at all times, including the coordination of resources.
    • Provide developmental feedback to staff through formal lesson observations and work scrutinies.
  • Quality Assurance
    • Conduct three formal termly work scrutinies in the Science Faculty and at least two formal lesson observations per academic year for all staff teaching in the Faculty.
  • Reporting and Communication
    • Proofread all reports written in subject areas within the Science Faculty prior to SLT sign-off.
  • Enrichment and Cultural Opportunities
    • Provide enrichment and cultural opportunities for students in the Science Faculty, including out-of-school trips and participation in school enrichment sessions.

Requirements

  • Experience in leading a science faculty in a school setting.
  • Strong understanding of the science curriculum and assessment policies.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills.
