Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Digital Collections Management Specialist to join our team at the Digital Preservation Coalition. The successful candidate will play a key role in coordinating the implementation of our digital collection management strategy, working closely with curatorial colleagues to ensure a holistic approach to managing our digital collections.

Key Responsibilities
  • Coordinate the digital element of the Collection Management Strategy, working with curatorial colleagues to ensure a comprehensive approach to managing digital collections.
  • Work with colleagues from Digital Preservation and Curation to manage local services, such as the Digital Media Capture Unit, to ensure handheld digital acquisitions are properly processed and preserved.
  • Support the development of a new, holistic approach to managing the Library's Digital Collection, working with colleagues from across the organization.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to ensure that our digital collection management approach includes all collections, at all stages of the lifecycle.
Requirements
  • At least 2 years of previous experience in a managerial capacity, with operational experience with digital library systems or technologies.
  • Undergraduate degree in Library, Archives, or Information Science, or a related discipline.
  • Sound understanding of concepts relating to digital lifecycle management, including issues and concepts relating to long-term digital preservation and curation.
  • Aptitude for policy development and excellent people skills.
  • Proven ability to work independently and a keen eye for detail.
  • Strong writing, desktop computing, and information management skills.
