Exciting Opportunity for SEN English Teacher

Tradewind Recruitment is pleased to offer an exciting opportunity for an SEN English Teacher to join a SEND school in Workington, West Cumbria. The school is specialized in catering for pupils with autism, and they require a teacher to work with secondary-aged pupils, with a particular emphasis on leading English.

The pupils are of mixed ability, working from GCSE level but also Functional Skills and ASDAN, whilst also differentiating for pupils working at Key Stage 2 level. The role will involve predominantly teaching English across different ability secondary-aged classes in the mornings, with the afternoons dedicated to more cross-curricular, topic-based learning and some focus on ASDAN too.

Whilst a secondary-trained English Teacher would be desirable, the school is open to hiring a primary-trained teacher who has experience of teaching pupils with special needs. The school has fantastic on-site facilities for children with autism, and class sizes are small - with a maximum of 6 pupils per class, and with 2-3 TAs in every classroom too.

The SLT and staff pride themselves on providing an environment and curriculum where pupils will be happy. The position will be on a long-term, full-time basis, with a permanent opportunity likely to become available in 2025 for the right candidate.
