About the Role
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Consultant Ophthalmologist to join our team at North Cumbria Integrated Care NHS Foundation Trust. As a Consultant Ophthalmologist, you will be responsible for providing high-quality eye care services to our patients, working closely with our multidisciplinary team to deliver safe and effective care.
Main Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be expected to:
- Provide expert clinical opinion on a range of ophthalmic problems, both emergency and elective
- Liaise with clinical staff to ensure the clinical care of patients is of the highest standard
- Develop and implement innovative ophthalmic practice, helping to bridge the gap between acute hospital care, community, and primary care
- Contribute to the development of a 'whole system' approach to delivering safe and effective modern eye care

Person Specification
The ideal candidate will have:
- FRCOphth or equivalent qualification
- Full GMC registration
- Holder of Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) or within six months of award of CCT or equivalent by date of interview
- Inclusion on the Specialist Registrar in Ophthalmology (or within six months of inclusion on GMC specialist register)
