Role: Associate Solicitor

Contract type: Permanent, 35 hours

Working Hours: Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm

Jones Whyte is seeking an experienced Private Client Associate Solicitor to join our Estate Planning team. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership qualities and a wealth of experience in managing complex caseloads.

The Estate Planning team, led by Partner Ross Anderson, is comprised of Solicitors, Trainee Solicitors, and accredited Paralegals. The team also receives valuable assistance from highly skilled Legal Assistants providing administrative support.

As an Associate Solicitor within our Private Client department, you will work closely with a partner-led team of professionals who have a range of skills and expertise. We maintain a close working relationship with both our clients and a network of experts in relevant fields.

The role presents an opportunity for the right person to develop personally and professionally within the firm through promotion and capability development.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Handling a large caseload with minimal supervision
  • Supervising the team of both fee-earners and administrators (including the delegation of day-to-day tasks)
  • Cross-selling other legal and non-legal services
  • Reviewing existing policies, practices, and precedents
  • Actively participating in business development opportunities and supporting our Partners to continuously drive forward business opportunities
Requirements:
  • Comprehensive technical knowledge of Wills, POAs, Trusts, Deeds of Variation, and Inheritance Tax
  • Excellent networking capabilities
  • Sound Commercial and Financial skills, taking responsibility for regular billing and work in progress
  • Dual Qualification in both Scottish and English Law
