We are looking to appoint a passionate and proactive Education Welfare Officer/Attendance Manager who will be instrumental in identifying and addressing barriers to student attendance. This role involves developing intervention strategies and collaborating with students, parents, and school personnel to promote consistent school attendance for all learners.

The ideal candidate will be a collaborative team member who is committed to the success of all students.

The successful applicant will ideally possess:

  • Proven experience working effectively with children, families, and multiple agencies, with an understanding of the latest government guidance on improving school attendance.
  • Familiarity with the legal framework governing attendance and enforcement measures for non-attendance.
  • Experience in an educational environment or similar setting.
  • A track record of identifying interventions to enhance student attendance.
  • Proficiency in monitoring attendance data, conducting follow-ups, and reporting on outcomes.
  • A commitment to ensuring high levels of student attendance.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Monitor and analyze whole-school attendance data, identifying trends and areas of concern to report to relevant stakeholders.
  • Collaborate closely with students, staff, parents, and guardians to reduce absenteeism and address persistent absence as a safeguarding concern.
  • Develop individualized attendance plans and provide necessary support and interventions, including Early Help, in accordance with local authority guidelines.
  • Identify safeguarding issues in line with school protocols.
  • Conduct home visits when necessary.
