Job Title: Production Maintenance Specialist
The primary objective of this role is to ensure that production machinery is consistently maintained and repaired to uphold optimal production efficiency while minimizing interruptions and equipment failures. Key responsibilities encompass executing scheduled maintenance, addressing equipment malfunctions, installing and relocating manufacturing machinery, procuring spare components, and maintaining accurate maintenance documentation.
This position also involves designing, fabricating, and implementing enhancements to production machinery.
The role requires working in a shift pattern of 12-hour shifts, alternating between day and night.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform scheduled maintenance on machinery and equipment to the highest standards
- Respond promptly to equipment failures on production machines
- Install and reposition manufacturing equipment as necessary
- Identify and order spare parts
- Maintain comprehensive maintenance records
- Complete all necessary documentation for ordering and receiving parts
- Interpret mechanical schematics
- Conduct mechanical troubleshooting
- Execute pneumatic and hydraulic troubleshooting
- Perform basic electrical troubleshooting
- Document daily work activities on a time sheet
- Collaborate with contractors, suppliers, engineering firms, and various departments
- Adhere to health and safety protocols
- Assist with inventory audits
- Foster positive working relationships across all departments
Qualifications and Skills:
- Recognized mechanical qualification (e.g., NVQ/City & Guilds/BTEC HNC)
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications
- Experience in a fast-paced, high-pressure production setting
- Background in the printing or carton manufacturing sector
- Familiarity with Heidelberg and Roland sheet-fed printing presses
- Experience with Bobst cut and crease machines and folder gluers
