About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Crisis Practitioner to join our team at Rotherham Doncaster and South Humber NHS Foundation Trust.

Job Summary

The successful candidate will work as part of our Crisis team, providing crisis assessment and intervention services to individuals in crisis. This will involve working closely with health colleagues, non-mental health colleagues, and community services to facilitate safe and effective care plans.

Main Responsibilities
  • Deliver crisis assessment, risk assessment, and planning services to individuals in crisis.
  • Provide brief treatment interventions to reduce distress, risk, and improve mental wellbeing.
  • Work closely with health colleagues, non-mental health colleagues, and community services to facilitate safe and effective care plans.
  • Support teaching and education on mental health and crisis management to non-mental health colleagues, clients, and carers.
  • Support junior colleagues in delivering safe and effective person-centered mental health care focused on recovery.
  • Actively promote health education and provide alternative materials to support service users and carers in making decisions regarding their care and treatment.
  • Have a working knowledge of the Mental Health Act (1983/2007) and the Mental Capacity Act.
  • Provide relevant support to carers and families in relation to their rights as carers and actively support their involvement in the care of the service user.

Requirements
  • Registered mental health nurse with risk assessment training.
  • Appropriate demonstrable experience of working with older people with mental health problems, experience of working with carers and families, and evidence of ongoing CPD and evidence-based practice.
  • Advanced and comprehensive communication skills, clear and concise command of English (written/oral), ability to organise and carry out teaching practice, basic IT/computer skills, positive presentation skills, and ability to integrate.
