Mondrian Alpha is a leading Hedge Fund consultancy seeking a skilled Market Data Analyst to join their dynamic team. As a proactive, knowledgeable professional, you will have the opportunity to make a significant impact in the financial sector by leveraging technology to enhance market data processes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support Desk Operations: Provide close support to the desk on issues related to market data, manage business-as-usual activities, and handle small projects to meet broader business needs.
  • Automation Initiatives: Identify and implement opportunities for automation to improve efficiency and reduce manual errors.
  • Innovative Solutions: Propose new processes, tools, and approaches to solve business problems and enhance user experiences.
  • Functional Specifications: Define new functionality required by projects across front, middle, and back offices.
  • Knowledge Management: Continuously improve knowledge through better documentation and knowledge management practices.
  • Issue Investigation: Investigate complex functional software issues, perform root cause analysis, and establish effective solutions.
  • Risk Management: Identify and manage risks, flagging major issues early to prevent potential losses.
  • Decision Making: Make informed recommendations and judgments on various situations, considering multiple perspectives and data-driven insights.
  • On-Call Participation: Participate in on-call rotations until 11pm CET (Monday to Friday) one day out of five, ensuring seamless support and minimizing downtime.

Requirements

  • Financial Market Experience: Previous experience with financial market domain companies such as funds, investment banks, brokers, market infrastructure, and data/platform vendors.
  • Technical Expertise: Strong background in SQL and data interrogation, with hands-on experience in Python programming language.
  • Asset Class Knowledge: Experience with different asset classes (Equities, Bonds, Derivatives) and a solid understanding of their features and life cycle.
  • Proactive Learning: Demonstrates initiative and a willingness to learn, staying up-to-date with industry trends and best practices.
  • Communication Skills: Clear and concise communication style, with the ability to articulate complex ideas and technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Preferred Skills

  • Buy Side Experience: Previous experience working on the buy side, with a deep understanding of the investment process and market dynamics.
  • Advanced Excel Skills: Proficiency in advanced Excel functionalities, including data analysis, visualization, and modeling.
  • High Volume Datasets: Experience working with high-volume datasets, with a strong understanding of data processing and management.
  • Market Data Systems: Familiarity with market data systems and financial data providers like Bloomberg, Reuters, S&P, etc.
  • Process Documentation: Experience in process documentation, with a focus on clarity, accuracy, and maintainability.
