About the Role
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist to join our team at Pennine Care NHS FT. As a CAMHS Consultant, you will be responsible for providing specialist out-patient and consultation services to children and young people aged 5-18 years in generic CAMHS.
Main Responsibilities
- Provide a psychiatric service for children and young people in Bury CAMHS.
- Undertake direct clinical work and provide supervision to the MDT and work in partnership with other agencies.
- Take clinical responsibility for a caseload.
- Manage a needs-led interface with Working Age Psychiatry.
- Work creatively with other agencies involved with children and young people, including Paediatrics, Schools and colleges, YOT, Drug and Alcohol services, CCG, and Local Authority.
- Provide clinical supervision as required to junior medical staff.
- Support the continued development of the Bury CAMHS service.
- Adhere to all relevant local and national safeguarding policies and procedures.
- Work closely with other CAMHS Consultants, Operational and multidisciplinary staff, and Directorate managers.
Person Specification
- Full GMC Registration.
- Possession of CCT in Child & Adolescent Psychiatry, or be within 6 months of achieving this or entered on the GMC Specialist Register.
- Section 12 Approval under Mental Health Act 1983, or be eligible for approval.
- Demonstrable competency across the PMETB approved curriculum for higher training in Child and Adolescent psychiatry.
- Registered for CPD with the RCPsych, with good standing for CPD.
- Qualities essential to make a good educational supervisor of trainees in psychiatry.
- Commitment to training and teaching.
- Strong Leadership skills, including Clarity, Commitment to share ideas with colleagues, to develop and improve the service.
- Ability to work clearly and effectively across organisational boundaries.
- Ability to work creatively with teams around complex and challenging client groups.
- Evidence of audit activity.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Cultural competency.
- Awareness of key legislation NSF, NICE, MHA, MCA, Children Act.
