About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Consultant in Anaesthesia to join our team at University Hospitals of Leicester NHS Trust. As a key member of our Anaesthetic department, you will be responsible for providing a safe and efficient anaesthetic service for elective and emergency care.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide high-quality anaesthetic care to patients, ensuring the highest clinical standards are maintained.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues and theatre teams to ensure smooth running of theatre lists.
  • Support the Consultant-delivered Perioperative Medicine Service and high-risk anaesthetic clinics.
  • Participate in multidisciplinary case discussions and contribute to departmental quality improvement activities.
  • Supervise and train junior medical staff, providing guidance and support to ensure their development and success.
  • Contribute to the development of the service, identifying opportunities for improvement and implementing changes to enhance patient care.
  • Participate in clinical governance and audit activities, ensuring compliance with Trust policies and procedures.
Requirements
  • Full GMC registration and MB;BS or equivalent qualification.
  • Fully accredited for Higher Specialist Training or eligible for inclusion on the Specialist Register within 6 months of the interview date.
  • FRCA or equivalent qualification.
  • Current BLS Certification or equivalent.
  • Excellent clinical skills and experience in anaesthesia, with the ability to apply sound clinical judgment to problems.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team and supervise juniors.
  • Experience of leading teams and awareness of leadership styles.
  • Ability to effectively organise, prioritise and manage clinical workload.
  • Understanding of wider health agenda and modern NHS.
