Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service: Data Analyst Opportunity

We are seeking an experienced and enthusiastic Data Analyst to join our forward-thinking Insight and Analytics team, working within our Digital, Data and Technology (DDaT) department. The successful candidate will be responsible for utilising reporting technologies such as PowerBI and SSRS to provide information and data back into the service to help inform decision making and transform the way we work to keep our staff and the public safe.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Utilise reporting technologies such as PowerBI and SSRS to provide information and data back into the service
  • Work with the Insight and Analytics Team to develop and maintain data visualisation and reporting tools
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to identify business needs and develop data-driven solutions
  • Develop and maintain databases and querying them using SQL
  • Work with geospatial data and tooling (GIS) to provide insights and recommendations
  • Develop and maintain data manipulation scripts in languages such as Python
Requirements:
  • Understanding of data, data visualisation and analysis across a broad range of subject areas
  • Experience with Power BI, including its use within a Microsoft 365 environment
  • Experience with databases and querying them using SQL
  • Experience with geospatial data and tooling (GIS)
  • Experience with data manipulation in languages such as Python
  • Understanding of data science and opportunities for its application in public sector
