About the Role

This is an exciting opportunity to join Cryer Baker Insurance Recruitment Ltd, a leading insurance company in the UK, as a Commercial Underwriter. The company is expanding its operations and is looking for an experienced professional to join its team.

The role will be based in the Ipswich regional office, where a hybrid working arrangement will be in place. The successful candidate will be part of a team that values people, development, and teamwork.

Key Responsibilities
  • Drive and transform the way the company partners with broker portfolios through responsive, flexible, and collaborative relationships.
  • Deliver on trading team targets by underwriting products for SME Existing Business profitably, while developing key relationships and credibility with brokers and customers.
  • Underwrite products for SME customers accurately, consistently, and profitably using the full range of appetite and tools available.
  • Advocate for the company in meetings with brokers to secure clients.
  • Monitor the overall performance of the book and take remedial action to correct any performance issues.
Requirements
  • Keep an open mind and be willing to learn and challenge the status quo.
  • Be a team player and use your unique skills and knowledge to collaborate with colleagues and take accountability.
  • Possess a strong trading capability, commercial awareness, and expert negotiation skills.
  • Build strong broker relationships and have a sound understanding of the current commercial insurance market.
What We Offer

A very competitive basic salary dependent on experience between £30K to £40K, 12% Pension, Annual Bonus incentive, and other employee benefits will be provided as standard.
