Job Title: SEMH Learning Support Assistant

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Learning Support Assistant to join our team in a primary school setting. The successful candidate will provide support to students with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, helping them to overcome their challenges and achieve their full potential.

About the Role:
  • Provide one-to-one and small group support to students with SEMH needs, helping them to manage their behavior and develop positive relationships with their peers and teachers.
  • Work collaboratively with teachers and other professionals to develop and implement strategies to support student progress and well-being.
  • Assist in creating a safe and supportive learning environment, promoting a culture of respect and inclusivity.
  • Build strong relationships with students, parents, and colleagues, communicating effectively and providing regular updates on student progress.
  • Participate in training and professional development opportunities to enhance skills and knowledge in supporting students with SEMH needs.
Requirements:
  • Experience working with children with SEMH needs, ADHD, or challenging behavior.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with students, parents, and colleagues.
  • Patience, resilience, and a passion for helping students overcome their difficulties.
  • Ability to think creatively and develop innovative strategies to engage students in learning and promote their well-being.
  • A calm and compassionate approach, with the ability to remain composed in high-pressure situations.
