Job DescriptionRole Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled Forensic Accountant to join our team at HMRC. As a Forensic Accountant, you will play a critical role in providing objective, independent, and professional advice on criminal investigations and anti-money laundering interventions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide expert analysis and interpretation of financial records to support investigations and prosecutions.
- Act as an independent expert witness in court proceedings, providing clear and concise testimony on complex financial issues.
- Support activities targeting financial crime, including alcohol, supply chain, and duty evasion fraud.
- Communicate and advise internal and external stakeholders on financial crime matters.
- Develop and deliver high-quality accountancy training to colleagues and partners.
- Coach and mentor colleagues to enhance their skills and knowledge in forensic accounting.
Requirements:
- Full and complete qualification from one of the following professional accounting bodies: ICAEW, ICAS, CAI, ACCA, CIMA, or CIPFA.
- Continuing membership of the relevant professional accounting body.
- Strong financial accounting experience, including analysis and interpretation of financial records, preparation and review of financial statements, and consideration of accounting treatment of specific transactions.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate complex financial issues to non-accountants.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a strong focus on professionalism, integrity, and independence.
Desirable Criteria:
- Experience of forensic accounting, money laundering issues, and illicit finance issues in the public or private sector.
