We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate SEND Teaching Assistant to join our team at Opogo.
About the RoleThe successful candidate will support pupils with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) in a primary school setting, working closely with teachers and the SEND Coordinator to provide personalized support and ensure a high-quality education.
Key Responsibilities- Support the learning and development of pupils with SEND, adapting teaching methods to meet individual needs.
- Assist in planning and delivering individual education plans (IEPs), collaborating with teachers to set and achieve goals.
- Provide one-on-one and small group support inside and outside the classroom, promoting social and emotional development.
- Help create a safe, inclusive, and supportive learning environment, fostering a positive attitude towards learning.
- Aid in classroom management and organization, ensuring a smooth and efficient learning process.
- Monitor and report on pupil progress to teachers and the SEND Coordinator, providing valuable insights and recommendations.
- Support pupils with their personal care needs, if required, demonstrating empathy and understanding.
- Participate in school activities and events, promoting a sense of community and teamwork.
- Relevant qualifications or experience as a Teaching Assistant, with a strong understanding of SEND principles.
- Experience working with children with SEND in a primary school setting, with a proven track record of success.
- A compassionate and patient approach to working with children, with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team, with a strong commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
- Specific training or qualifications in SEND, with a deep understanding of various SEND, including Autism, ADHD, Dyslexia, and physical disabilities.
- Experience with various educational tools and strategies, with a strong ability to adapt and innovate.
