We are seeking a Senior Tax Consultant to become a vital part of our newly established Tax division. In this role, you will oversee tax strategies for our diverse clientele, primarily within the London and South East area, where we provide our innovative Finance Function and Data Analytics solutions. Your expertise will be crucial in identifying, developing, and leading advisory initiatives that enhance our clients' experiences in key industries such as Technology, Software as a Service (SaaS), and e-commerce.

Your extensive technical tax knowledge will empower you to uncover value-added opportunities, granting you comprehensive access to our client base. Additionally, you will play a key role in offering strategic support and insights into the business landscape of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), while assisting Chief Financial Officers (CFOs) in advisory roles and opportunity exploration.

Key Responsibilities

You will be accountable for:

  • Leading and managing the tax function with full responsibility for all tax-related matters.
  • Expanding the tax department with a focus on advisory services rather than mere compliance.
  • Overseeing and enhancing existing tax compliance workflows and standard operating procedures.
  • Reviewing Corporation Tax computations prepared by our offshore team, along with related statutory account disclosures.
  • Identifying potential opportunities within our client portfolio in collaboration with our Portfolio CFOs.
  • Crafting new tax-related offerings tailored for our technology, SaaS, and e-commerce clients.
  • Preparing and evaluating Research and Development (R&D) tax credit applications, calculations, and submissions.
  • Conducting independent research on various technical topics.
  • Engaging in client meetings with senior personnel, providing proactive insights on relevant tax issues and opportunities.
  • Managing additional annual reporting requirements for clients, such as Employment Related Securities Returns (ERS).
  • Collaborating with our Portfolio CFOs to address key topics and provide client support.
  • Discussing broader business challenges with clients and delivering tailored advisory solutions.
  • Mentoring members of the FinOps team.
  • Addressing tax inquiries and overseeing technical tax questions.
  • Building strong relationships with clients through effective communication.
  • Reporting internally and providing regular updates on client deliverables.
  • Supporting or leading new propositions.

Depending on your experience, you may also engage in:

  • Other consulting projects aligned with your expertise.
  • Preparation and review of personal tax computations and returns.

Ideal Candidate Profile

To qualify for this position, you should possess:

  • A tax qualification (CTA) or equivalent.
  • A minimum of 5 years of relevant post-qualification experience in an accounting firm.
  • In-depth knowledge and practical experience in corporate tax and compliance.
  • Proven experience in managing multiple senior stakeholders.
  • Strong project management and multitasking abilities.
  • Experience working with fast-growing SMEs.
  • Familiarity with R&D applications and claims.
  • Expertise in UK tax structuring.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and time management skills.
  • The capability to provide value beyond basic requirements, with a lateral thinking approach in tech, SaaS, and e-commerce sectors.
  • The ability to think independently, conduct research, and deliver value to clients and CFOs.
  • A desire for growth and development within our organization.
  • A proactive mindset focused on improving quality and processes.
  • A commitment to ensuring unparalleled client satisfaction.

While not mandatory, the following experience is desirable:

  • Working with technology, SaaS, and e-commerce businesses.
  • Experience in international expansion and structuring.
  • Knowledge and experience in personal tax matters.

Compensation Package

  • Starting salary of £70,000 and above, depending on experience.
  • Discretionary performance-related bonus (up to 5%).
