Key Responsibilities

As a Clinical Pharmacist for Correctional Services, your role will involve delivering clinical pharmacy services to patients within designated correctional facilities while collaborating with pharmacy technicians and support staff. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Organizing and overseeing the clinical pharmacy services for assigned facilities, including planning your own and the team's work schedules.
  • Managing the daily operations of pharmacy technicians, providing clinical guidance as needed.
  • Conducting clinical assessments within the facilities, including Medication Use Reviews (MURs) and evaluating the medication history of newly admitted individuals.
  • Participating actively in clinical governance and medication management committees, monitoring prescribing patterns, and assisting in the development of Patient Group Directions (PGDs) when appropriate.
  • Training and educating nursing staff on medication management to ensure safe prescribing practices.

Essential Qualifications

  • Master's Degree in Pharmacy or equivalent.
  • Registered with the General Pharmaceutical Council of Great Britain (GPhC).
  • Certification in Clinical Pharmacy or equivalent (or actively pursuing).

Experience Requirements

  • Prior experience in prison, hospital, or community pharmacy settings in the UK.
  • Experience in providing clinical pharmacy services.
  • A minimum of two years of post-registration experience in delivering clinical services within correctional or hospital environments.

Skills and Competencies

  • Recent clinical pharmacy practice in a correctional or hospital setting.
  • Strong foundational clinical skills.
