We are seeking a highly skilled Colour and Materials Designer to join our team at Contechs. As a key member of our Design department, you will be responsible for leading the development of innovative colour and materials solutions that meet the needs of our clients.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Research and analyse market trends, lifestyles, and design and social trends to inform colour and materials strategies for current and future programmes.
  • Design and develop breath-taking products that effectively communicate their function and tell a compelling visual story.
  • Communicate and progress critical issues to senior stakeholders, including the Chief Designer, Design Operations Manager, and Design Director.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Design, CAS, Clay, and Engineering, to develop and implement design standards and processes.
  • Present and sell colour and materials concepts to senior management and executive-level stakeholders.
  • Assist in establishing a strong design identity for the company by instilling the design statement, pillars, and principles.
  • Develop and deliver comprehensive colour and materials design research reports and design intent reports for all programmes.
  • Deliver target samples and support design quality in the delivery of master samples for all colours and materials.
  • Reconcile design intent, quality, and manufacturing feasibility with engineering and commercial requirements.

Requirements:

  • University degree in Art and Design or equivalent, with extensive experience as a Colour and Materials Designer.
  • Excellent experience leading and coaching high-performance teams working under tight deadlines.
  • Solid OEM experience working in a design department of an Automotive company.
  • Highly creative with excellent colour vision, colour harmony, and an intuitive understanding of perceived value and craftsmanship.
  • Significant knowledge of automotive/industrial colours and materials.
  • Presentation skills to effectively communicate design intention.
  • High-level competence in using Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, and Microsoft Office.
  • Strong project planning and management skills.
  • Excellent understanding of Colour and Materials and vehicle design.
