Position: Lead Engineer – Nuclear Systems (Mechanical)

- Collaborate with construction teams to provide engineering expertise, ensuring that the final product aligns with design specifications.
- Identify and understand critical requirements and dimensions for significant structural elements.
- Take initiative on design modifications impacting major structural components, addressing emergent challenges and process enhancements.
- Contribute as an engineering representative in the planning and execution of significant construction activities related to the Reactor Compartment Unit.
- Develop and present effective technical solutions to challenges encountered during the construction of the Naval Reactor Plant.
- Offer technical justification and sound engineering recommendations to stakeholders, including Rolls-Royce and the Ministry of Defence, to question existing standards.
Required Qualifications:
Essential:
- Degree in Engineering – Mechanical or Structural discipline.
- Proficient in interpreting mechanical schematics, with a solid understanding of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing.
- Familiarity with welding engineering and non-destructive testing methodologies.
- Experience in technical report writing and justifying design modifications.
Desirable:
- Knowledge of stress, fatigue, and thermal analysis.
- Awareness of nuclear radiation shielding principles.
- Previous experience in Nuclear Plant operations.
- Understanding of the Nuclear Industry and its regulatory framework.

About the Nuclear Engineering Team:
As a Lead Engineer – Nuclear Systems (Mechanical), you will play a crucial role in supporting the design, construction, and testing phases of the Naval Reactor Plant across various programs, ensuring that the design intent is achieved in the final output. This role involves coordinating and leading the resolution of diverse issues that arise during the construction and testing phases, with a strong focus on developing technical solutions and ensuring the adequacy of the associated safety case. You will also provide guidance to various internal teams, including Engineering Delivery, Test & Commissioning, Operations, and Project Management.
