COST MANAGEMENT ROLE
Capstone Property Recruitment is seeking a highly skilled Cost Manager to join a thriving global retail brand. As a key member of the commercial consultancy team, you will be responsible for providing in-house cost management services across the brand's international portfolios of new and existing stores.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support the UK & EU Refit pipeline across all Store Development activity, ensuring timely and cost-effective delivery.
- Manage external QS support services, ensuring that external cost consultants undertake duties stipulated in their fee agreements and schedule of works to optimize value and operational efficiencies.
- Lead the supply chain to deliver better cost outcomes across all group construction & fit-out activity, driving cost savings and improving project delivery.
- Collaborate with specification and procurement colleagues to drive costs down and improve project efficiency.
- Apply cost control techniques to manage a capital out-turn, ensuring accurate forecasting and budgeting.
- Refine the cost approval process, including post-contract variations and change control for all capital construction and refurbishment programmes.
- Manage reporting, validation, and tracking measures toward savings targets, providing regular updates to stakeholders.
Requirements:
- Degree in Quantity Surveying or related field, with 3-5 years of experience in cost management.
- Working towards MRICS chartership or equivalent professional certification.
- Experience of projects exceeding £1m, with a strong understanding of legal and contractual frameworks.
- Sound knowledge of RIBA stages of the design process, from conception through to delivery.
- Detailed experience of retail construction, with a good understanding of building regulations and compliance.
- Thorough knowledge of architectural drawings and specifications for construction cost document production.
- High level of financial appraisal skill, with the ability to analyze complex financial data.
- Knowledge of shop-fit standards, details, and construction, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Ability to travel globally when required, with a flexible approach to work.
