Job Overview

Role Summary: We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Manufacturing Engineer to join our team at BAE Systems. As a key member of our Manufacturing Engineering team, you will play a pivotal role in supporting the manufacture of current and future products across our entire product range and the full programme lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with stakeholders across Manufacturing and Engineering to support our manufacturing systems and processes during initial bid, new product introduction, production, and repair.
  • Develop and maintain shop floor manufacturing lines, cells, and equipment to provide a safe and lean manufacturing environment.
  • Design and implement jigs, tools, and fixtures to ease the assembly of products by our technicians.
  • Review build times and support activity durations, estimating future targets, and working to improve processes to achieve production goals according to product specifications and business requirements.
  • Establish a strong Lean culture and lead continuous improvement initiatives to support strategic objectives such as the adoption of Industry 4.0 digital manufacturing.

Requirements:

  • Qualification in a relevant engineering discipline or time served in a similar role (HNC/Degree).
  • Knowledge and understanding of modern Manufacturing Engineering practices, tools, and technology gained from experience working in a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience in interpreting engineering drawings to create manufacturing assembly instructions/standard operating procedures.
