3D AutoCAD Design Manager

A unique opportunity has arisen to join a leading Main Contractor, working on exciting and challenging residential projects. As a 3D AutoCAD Design Manager, you will be responsible for planning, reviewing, and coordinating the outputs of all parties with design responsibility to achieve the objectives of the project.
This role requires a strong Design Manager who can lead, manage, and support all pre and post-contract design activities associated with bidding, procurement, construction, and defects. You will work closely with the Commercial and Operations teams to ensure cost-conscious and construction-conscious direction and instruction to the consultant team.
Key Responsibilities:
- Create and manage project technical risk registers, flagging technical and compliance risks and managing mitigating measures.
- Carry out duties in compliance with internal processes and procedures, including the use of trackers, reports, checklists, and contributing to their continuous review and improvement.
- Lead in the preparation of project specifications and Contractor's Proposals at the outset of new projects.
- Establish the design programme and information release schedule by reference to the master construction programme, managing the design team to ensure adherence to the same.
- Establish scope and obtain fee proposals for multi-disciplinary consultant teams in accordance with a robust responsibility matrix, ratifying completeness of service delivery on incoming fee invoices.
- Prepare and present monthly client reports at monthly client meetings, managing the process of obtaining client signoff for design, specification, and samples.
- Provide cost-conscious direction and instruction to the consultant team, reviewing emerging design to eliminate waste and achieve economic design solutions that meet client brief and planning requirements.
- Provide construction-conscious direction and instruction to the consultant team, reviewing emerging design to optimise design, minimising complex details and interfaces involving multiple trades.
- Review consultant and contractor design outputs, coordinating outputs of all designers to identify and rectify gaps, clashes, and inconsistencies, and managing the design approvals process.
- Review planning, BCO, NHBC Conditions, and other required approvals, identifying critical timeframes and managing the discharge process.
- Identify client handover requirements, assembling all documentation and statutory approvals required in time for handover, including BCO, NHBC, Planning.
